Our show brings together women from the local community to share their stories. Our mission is to bring these stories together into a one-night show that fosters a tighter-knit community, amplifies the voices of women in our community, and builds a space where we can be vulnerable, brave, and authentic.
Meet the driving force behind TWSS. Bev Merritt-Hicks.
Bev is a passionate and dedicated activist for the Terre Haute Community, with a strong background in child advocacy. This empowers her to make a meaningful impact in The Wabash Valley. With 30 years of experience, She has cultivated a keen expertise in making changes, driving innovation and excellence. Bev is the co-founder of SHINE Foster Family Resources. This local nonprofit works closely with The Department of Child Services and other agencies to ensure no child goes without the essentials needed during this critical time.
Bev's journey began in 2018, igniting a lifelong passion for empowering women. She has collaborated with various organizations throughout her career, contributing to projects that inspire change and advancement.
Outside of her professional life, she embraces family values, drawing inspiration that fuels her creativity and problem-solving abilities. Bev believes in inspiring others, always seeking opportunities for personal growth and community betterment.
In leisure moments, she immerses herself in Family time, cherishing connections with her grandchildren, and exploring new adventures. With an eye toward the future, Bev is excited about the challenges and opportunities ahead.
We are also thrilled to announce that we are partnering with CODA of The Wabash Valley and The Maple Center!.
CODA of The Wabash Valley strives
to establish and support a shelter for survivors of domestic abuse and their minor children. They provide Emergency Shelter and Rape Crisis Center Serving Clay, Parke, Sullivan, Vermillion and Vigo Counties
The Maple Center
is a nonprofit integrative health education center that offers classes and workshops in mind, body, and spirit approaches to optimal wellness. We support and honor the individual's rights to a voice in his or her own health care and to be informed about, and have access to, effective complementary treatment approaches.

Each of them brings a unique narrative to our stage, showing truly just how deeply remarkable our community and the women who make it up are. At TWSS Terre Haute, we strive to take empowering women in our community to the next level by giving a platform for the women of tomorrow to share their voices. That’s What Teens Say Terre Haute is a unique program designed for young women aged 13-18 in the Terre Haute community, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the power of their voice, connect with other teens, and get a chance to share their story from the stage for their friends and family.
As we gear up for the next installment of That’s What Teens Say, we invite you to nominate a teen girl in your life who you think would benefit from this transformative weekend. This empowering three-day workshop offers confidence-building exercises, creative writing activities, improv games, and more tools designed to help them realize the power that their voice can have.
