In 2025, That’s What She Said Terre Haute took its first steps, joining the national movement of That’s What She Said by bringing it into our community. Since then, we’ve begun to put on annual shows that are beacons of inspiration, igniting conversations, and building bridges between different parts of our community

Bev Merritt Hicks
Meet the driving force behind TWSS. Bev Merritt-Hicks.
Bev is a passionate and dedicated activist for the Terre Haute Community, with a strong background in child advocacy. This empowers her to make a meaningful impact in The Wabash Valley. With 30 years of experience, She has cultivated a keen expertise in making changes, driving innovation and excellence. Bev is the co-founder of SHINE Foster Family Resources. This local nonprofit works closely with The Department of Child Services and other agencies to ensure no child goes without the essentials needed during this critical time. Bev's journey began in 2018, igniting a lifelong passion for empowering women. She has collaborated with various organizations throughout her career, contributing to projects that inspire change and advancement.
Laura Reed
Laura Reed is an everyday woman who has lived in Terre Haute most of her life. When Laura was 12 her mother remarried and moved the family to Oregon. In Oregon Laura completed middle school and high school where she spent many hours working with her peers with developmental disabilities. Laura returned to Indiana in 1999, eventually finishing her bachelor's degree. In 2001 Laura had the pleasure of returning to her childhood stomping grounds at Camp NaWaKwa. She spent 7 wonderful years working with girls and women as the Administrative Camp Director for the Girl Scouts. Laura is an avid thespian and has worked on stage, off stage, backstage and everything in between with many community theatres in the area. Most recently directing for the Children’s Theatre of Terre Haute. Laura is very proud to be a part of the “That’s What She Said – Campaign.”
This year, we are happy to announce that our show will be taking place in the enchanting The Terre Haute Convention Center (800 Wabash Avenue Terre Haute, IN 47807). This space will host our 8-10 speakers who will take the stage and bravely share their stories.
