Welcome to That’s What She Said Terre Haute, where extraordinary stories take center stage, bringing together the women and community of The Wabash Valley. Join us for our Terre Haute show on September 5, 2026!
Our show brings together women from the local community to share their stories. Our mission is to bring these stories together into a one-night show that fosters a tighter-knit community, amplifies the voices of women in our community, and builds a space where we can be vulnerable, brave, and authentic.
Meet the driving force behind TWSS. Bev Merritt-Hicks.
Bev Merritt Hicks is a passionate advocate for children, families, and women’s voices. A devoted mother who has raised children ranging in age from 40 to 9, Bev has also fostered 37 children, offering them a safe and loving place to heal and reunite with their families. Alongside raising her family, she has built a career while dedicating countless hours to volunteering in her community.
Bev is the producer of That’s What She Said in Terre Haute, a storytelling event that amplifies women’s voices, and That’s What Teens Say, a three-day intensive program empowering teen girls to build confidence through writing, speaking, and performance. Both events raise funds for local nonprofits, including CODA of The Wabash Valley, The Maple Center, and SHINE Foster Family Resources, where Bev also serves as a champion and advocate.
Driven by a belief that every story matters, Bev creates spaces where people can find their voice, share their truth, and inspire change. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to building stronger families, uplifting women, and making her community a more compassionate place.

Lori Aden is a storyteller, author, and advocate for women finding their voice after seasons of silence. A mother, writer, and multi-passionate woman, Lori has built her life around honesty, healing, and helping women feel less alone. Through her book Piece by Piece, her Big Sister Energy podcast, and her other growing community-focused projects, Lori uses her words and her own story to create spaces for women to feel seen, safe, and empowered to show up as themselves.
Lori serves as the director of That's What She Says Terre Haute 2026, bringing her creative vision, organizational leadership, and heart for the storytelling stage. With years of experience sharing personal narratives, Lori is passionate about spotlighting the powerful, ordinary-extraordinary stories women carry.
Guided by the belief that vulnerability is a strength and every story has the power to shift a room, Lori is committed to uplifting women's voices, celebrating resilience, and creating spaces where women can connect, heal, and grow. Her work reflects a lifelong dedication to rewriting generational patterns, nurturing community, and reminding women that they are worthy of a seat at the table - exactly as they are.

At TWSS Terre Haute, we strive to take empowering women in our community to the next level by giving a platform for the women of tomorrow to share their voices. That’s What Teens Say Terre Haute is a unique program designed for young women aged 13-18 in the Terre Haute community, providing them with a unique opportunity to explore the power of their voice, connect with other teens, and get a chance to share their story from the stage for their friends and family.
As we gear up for the next installment of That’s What Teens Say, we invite you to nominate a teen girl in your life who you think would benefit from this transformative weekend. This empowering three-day workshop offers confidence-building exercises, creative writing activities, improv games, and more tools designed to help them realize the power that their voice can have.
